Julia Holter takes fans on an abstract exploration into sound

Mary Anne Hobbs

Available for over a year

Julia Holter looks back on the music she listened to as a child, her longing for a piano from the age of 8, and the work she has done teaching teenagers in South Central LA. She also reflects on her fifth studio album 'Aviary' which comes out via Domino Records in October, 2018, its lack of traditional song structures, and abstract explorations into sound. 'Aviary' follows on from 'Have You in My Wilderness', 'Loud City', 'Ekstasis' and 'Tragedy', and collaborations with Jean-Michel Jarre, Laurel Halo and Linda Perhacs.
