Home call for dying patients

Breakfast on BBC Radio Surrey

Available for over a year

Hundreds of dying patients, wanting to go home for their final days, are stuck in Surrey's hospitals, because of delays organising proper care or funding, according to the terminal illness charity Marie Curie. It has analysed NHS data for the six Clinicial Commissioning Groups (CCGs) covering Surrey and found in some areas up to a third of patients entitled to care at home, did not receive it. The charity has called on Surrey's CCGs, hospital trusts and support workers to delay with delays organising proper care or funding. BBC Surrey has approached the CCGs for a response.
