New bus app helps users navigate congestion in Dakar

Digital Planet

Available for over a year

Getting around Dakar on public transport is not easy. Almost one quarter of the population of Senegal lives in the capital Dakar - a city notorious for unsolvable congestion problems. This makes bus timetables very unreliable. Now a group of four young app developers have created Sunubus to help passengers find their bus and know exactly when they will reach their destination. Reporter Sasha Gankin arrived on time to his interview appointment with Papa Mor Niane, one of the developers, using the Sunubus app. (Image: A bus in Dakar, Credit: Sasha Gankin.)
