Steinunn & Jon: Sculpture Culture

The Listening Project

Available for over a year

There are several works by Icelandic artist Steinunn Thorarinsdottir in Hull. The Cairns Sculpture trail at the University of Hull and Voyage. The latter is a striking figure on Hull's waterfront looking out to sea. It has a sister sculpture in Iceland that looks out towards Hull representing the link between the two places and their thousands of trawlermen. In 2011 this meaningful sculpture was stolen. It was whilst overseeing the installation of her latest work at Hull's university last year that Steinunn and her husband, Icelandic TV presenter Jon Thordarson (who also has links to Hull and it's trawling industry), discuss the significance of losing artwork in this way. Recorded on campus at the University of Hull. Produced by Clare Crooks
