Why have sales of CDs gone up?

Radio 4 in Four

Available for over a year

Music trends seem to be set on repeat. There’s been a revival in vinyl record sales and in the sale of CDs. Sales of CDs fell away when people started downloading music files, then streaming through the phone and the computer took over using services like Spotify. New figures from the British Record Industry show that sales of all physical formats have risen for the for the first time since 2003, and that includes CDs. Mark Radcliffe talks to Winifred Robinson about why this should be the case. First broadcast on You & Yours, 11 April 2018.
