Maidenhead: Alan Devonshire delighted with competitive showing

Sport on BBC Radio Berkshire: Post-match

Available for over a year

The Magpies boss Alan Devonshire is keen to stress that his part-time side are still in the minority. Maidenhead United are one of only two sides in the National League who are part-time, but still sit 14th in the table. They lost their latest match to Torquay 2-1. "We are part-time," Devonshire told BBC Radio Berkshire's Adam Whitty. "Us and Halifax are the only two part-time teams left in this league. "It didn't show out there [in defeat to Torquay], which is testament to [my players]. "Our fitness levels are decent." And Devonshire is hoping for a natural intervention to help with the pitch at York Road. "I just want it to stop raining! "There's not a lot you can do...it is what it is."
