Ben and Veronica – Always There

Veronica was approaching retirement and was ready to sell her house and jet off to start a new life in Spain (or somewhere hot), but she changed her plans to step in to help look after grandson Ben. Ben's mum suffered from bi-polar and when he was a toddler his dad became his main carer, Veronica stepped in to support her son. As time went on and Ben started school, it was easier for him to live with Veronica and have daily visits from dad. Ben still had contact with mum but she spent a lot of time in and out of hospital. In 2017 Ben's Mum died from a suspected overdose. Ben, now 11 and Veronica have a fantastic relationship, he has given her a new youthful life, 'keeping her cool', on trend and teaching her how to use a mobile phone. Produced by Siobhán Harrison.
