Police funding increase: Suffolk reaction

Stephen Foster

Available for over a year

Suffolk's Police and Crime Commissioner says an announcement on police funding is not what he'd been hoping for - but at least it wasn't a cut. Tim Passmore says Suffolk doesn't get a fair settlement - and he had been hoping the county might get a rise. In the end, policing minister Nick Hurd announced that government grants for forces wouldn't change - but individual forces would be able to put up their share of the council tax by £1 a month. Mr Passmore says he needs to think about whether to go ahead with that, as for some people the rise would be more than double the current inflation rate.
