Alabama Decides

Good Morning Scotland

Available for over a year

The race for the Alabama senate seat was one of the most divisive and controversial in recent memory with the Republican nominee Roy Moore accused of pursuing relationships with teenagers and molesting a 14-year-old when he was in his 30s - charges he has denied. The campaign ended on Tuesday with the shock election of Democrat candidate Doug Jones, bringing to an end of 25 years of Republican dominance of the deeply conservative and religious state. Reporter Brian Lindsay spoke to Troy Turner, editor of The Opelika-Auburn News, a local paper in Lee County, and asked how they had tackled the sensitivities while covering the campaign.
