Scrapping of Greyfriars scheme 'an opportunity'

Stuart Linnell

Available for over a year

Land at Northampton's Greyfriars site has stood empty for more then two years since the old bus station was demolished - and last night councillors confirmed it was back to the drawing board for the development. Plans for restaurants, a hotel, a coach station and either a cinema or trampoline centre at the site have been scrapped. It comes after developer Carter Enduarnce told the council it couldn't deliver on the promised housing element of the scheme. BBC Radio Northampton's political reporter Craig Lewis spoke to council leader Jonathan Nunn and asked him why he was feeling positive about what amounts to another delay.
