Northamptonshire County Council planning to reduce numbers of agency workers.

Stuart Linnell

Available for over a year

Northamptonshire County Council is looking at ways of reducing the number of agency staff working in its children's services department. The move is part of plans to cut almost £10m from the authority's budget. Proposals to use social workers from South Africa and to move some existing agency staff to permanent contracts would save almost £1.5m. Our politics reporter Craig Lewis looked at the recent history of the department and the current plans.
