Radio 4 in Four

Available for over a year

Pubs saved from closure by their own customers and turned into community pubs are thriving. The 50th opened this week in Maidenhead in Berkshire. All those taken over by local communities were seen at the time as failing pubs and yet not one of them has shut down. So how do they succeed when 29 pubs a week are reported to be closing. Melanie Abbott has been along to the Crawford Arms to speak to locals who invested their own money to buy the place. First broadcast on You & Yours, 26 July 2017.
