The eight year battle to get land near Swanage declared a village green

Campaigners from Purbeck are celebrating after land on a farm near Swanage was officially registered as a village green. The decision by Dorset County Council means any future development is effectively ruled out. The Friends of Hurston Fields was formed eight years ago when proposals to build on the site to the north of Swanage first emerged. The landowners say they are considering a legal challenge.
