'I could have got help six years earlier' - blind WW2 veteran Eddie Gaines

A World War Two veteran from Poole, who was recently presented with France's highest decoration, says he wishes he'd have sought help for his blindness earlier. Eddie Gaines, 92, served in the Royal Navy and was a first class stoker during World War Two. He was recently presented with the Légion d'Honneur - France's highest decoration - for his work on D-Day. The Royal Navy veteran started losing his sight around nine years ago - and eventually sought help, from the Blind Veterans UK charity. Our reporter Abby Newbery has been to meet him - and hear his story.
