Businesses React to US Climate Move

Big Boss Interview

Available for over a year

Businesses are coming out to show their opposition or support against President Trump's decision to withdraw the US from the Paris climate accord. Ann Klee, the Vice President, Environment, Health & Safety at General Electric tells the programme more about how her company would continue it's green agenda. The US jobs report out today, shows the unemployment rate at a 16 year low. Joan C Williams who has written a book called 'White Working Class' told me Trump's core support can be tracked back to a feeling that the capitalist system was leaving poorer workers behind. With less than a week to go until the UK's General Election and the campaign, we're interviewing the UK's main parties. Vince Cable, the Liberal Democrats Treasury spokesperson and former Business Secretary under the Conservative/Liberal Democrat coalition told Business Matters why his party is campaigning to stay in Europe's single market and customs union after Brexit. Susannah Streeter catches up with Bevis Watts, the boss of Triodos bank, to discuss why he swapped being a green campaigner who headed up the Avon Wildlife Trust in the West of England before he took on the top job at the insitution which prides itself on sustainable banking. Business Matters is joined by Eliza Wu Associate Professor in Finance, Sydney Business School for comment throughout the programme.
