Reading FC: Mendes pleased with first season

Weekend Kick-Off

Available for over a year

Despite suffering multiple injuries, Mendes is happy with his first season in Berkshire. The Royals' striker says that football can be unpredictable, much like this season for Reading FC has been. "In football you never know, you just hope and wish," he told BBC Radio Berkshire's Jack Winstanley. "Today we are very happy, particularly me I am very happy. "For my first season in England to get to the play-offs is a good performance." And he said that the main thing that helped him to settle in England was the football, despite not being in the team early on. "When I sign here it was, I think, to play, but Yann did well, so it was a difficult adjustment for me. "Now I am happy and I enjoy it."
