Athletes criticise anti-doping proposal to cancel world records from before 2005

European Athletics wants to cancel world records from before 2005 as part of a new anti-doping regime that would see samples stored and available for testing for ten years. The proposal is aimed at re-establishing the credibility of world records, many if which still stand from the 1980s - before drugs testing in athletics began. But British runner Steve Cram, who set several middle distance records in 1985, told Newshour's Tim Franks the proposals were disrespectful to clean athletes.
