Emmanuel Macron's Economic Agenda

World Business Report

Available for over a year

Will France's new president be able to reform labour laws to boost the country's economy? Sophie Pedder is Paris bureau chief of The Economist, and assesses Emmanuel Macron's economic agenda, and we hear from Pierre Gattaz, president of the French employers' organisation MEDEF. Also in the programme, South Korea goes to the polls on Tuesday to elect a new president. We find out more about Moon Jae-In, who is widely tipped to win the election, from Jonathan Cheng, Seoul bureau chief for the Wall Street Journal. Facebook has published full page newspaper ads telling users how to spot fake news. The BBC's Darragh MacIntyre has been investigating the role the social network played in both the US election, and Britain's EU referendum last year, and tells us how significant a problem fake news has become. Plus, they say it's lonely at the top, but what happens when stress turns into burnout? Our regular commentator Lucy Kellaway of the Financial Times takes a look at the pitfalls of pressure in the workplace. (Picture: Emmanuel Macron. Picture credit: Getty Images.)
