US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson in Russia

Big Boss Interview

Available for over a year

The US Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson, is in Russia for talks as tensions grow between Moscow and Washington over Syria. The visit follows the US air raid on a Syrian airfield in the wake of the gas attack in Syria in which many civilians died. Emily Tamkin is an expert on US-Russia relations at Foreign Policy magazine and joins Business Matters. One of Japan's biggest companies, Toshiba, has warned that its survival is in doubt, after reporting losses of around four-billion pounds. Auditors refused to approve the firm's accounts. Peter Landers is the Tokyo bureau chief for the Wall Street Journal newspaper. He discusses why there are big questions about Toshiba's openness. The BBC's Guy Hedgecoe reports from the North African nation of Morocco which has long been a country of transit for Sub-Saharan African migrants. In the past, they would usually arrive in Morocco with the intention of getting to Europe, often risking a dangerous crossing of the Mediterranean Sea. Now, many of those migrants are shunning Europe and staying in Morocco itself to start a new life. Rob Young is joined for comment by David Brancaccio, the presenter of Marketplace Morning Report on radio in the US and Yoko Ishikura, an Independent Business Consultant who's visiting the US from Tokyo.
