Clash of the Titans

World Business Report

Available for over a year

US President Donald Trump is preparing for his first face-to-face meeting with the Chinese leader Xi Jingping. It's a high stakes encounter upon which billions of dollars of trade depend. President Trump has said he believes the massive trade imbalance between the two nations is due to China unfairly holding down the value of its currency to make its products artificially cheap. We talk to Dr. Qian Liu, managing director of the Economist Group in China. Meanwhile, the German government has approved plans to fine internet companies up to $53 million if they fail to remove hate speech or fake news on websites they control. We ask Dana Heide of Germany's Handelsblatt newspaper for her take on the announcement. Picture: Chinese magazines with US President Donald Trump on a cover in Beijing.
