Guildford Cathedral refused building permission due to 'long distance' views
Breakfast on BBC Radio SurreyAvailable for over a year
BBC Surrey has discovered new details about why Guildford Cathedral was refused permission for 134 homes despite warnings it will probably close. A letter from planners lists eight reasons. One says the financial circumstances do not outweigh the "significantly important" long-distance views of the site. The development is described as too high, too big and too dense. There are also concerns about rare birds, more dog walking, a loss of open space and less privacy for existing residents.
