Reading FC: Stam says home fans are crucial

Weekend Kick-Off

Available for over a year

The Royals boss Jaap says it is always great to play at home, but that he can't control how many fans turn up to the Madejski Stadium. He said, "It's always nice to play at home in front of our own fans, which is very important for us." Stam also stressed how crucial the home fans will be in the season run-in, "Especially at this time at the season, you need them as well, and the team find it very good to play at home." There are many reasons why crowds can fluctuate, according to Stam, such as "if it's on television or not" or "how fans react to a certain way of football." Ultimately, though, Stam would like more fans in the stadium during home games. "It's a pity to be fair, because it would have been nice if the stadium was always full, every game you play, but it's not up to me."
