Racing: The man looking to change attitudes in the sport

Sport on BBC Radio Berkshire

Available for over a year

Ed Stroud, from the Injured Jockeys Fund, wants to adapt the way jockeys approach racing. "One of the major facets [of the Injured Jockeys Fund] is injury prevention. Obviously we can never stop the serious injuries and the catastrophic injuries, that's just part of the sport. "What we can reduce is the niggles, the aches, the pains, and what jockeys don't tend to do compared to other elite sports is warm up before they get out there and do the race. "We introduced exercise bikes to the changing room for the first time today, which is very exciting. "When they're in that race, they perform better so hopefully [warming up] will reduce injuries and their performance is going to go up."
