Professor Alexis Jay on her work to combat child sexual abuse

Woman's Hour

Available for over a year

Professor Alexis Jay, Chair of the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse and author of the Jay Report into child sexual exploitation in Rotherham, joins Jane Garvey during Sexual Abuse & Sexual Violence Awareness Week. She talks about lessons learnt from Rotherham, and says that she thinks it could happen again elsewhere in the UK, and that these crimes are not unique to Britain. Professor Jay says, “One of my biggest concerns for the future, and in the Inquiry, is understanding the demand, that’s not just UK or European, but it’s worldwide - the demand for sex with children. And how that can be stopped.”
