Why more people are living on the water

Radio 4 in Four

Available for over a year

Living on the water has long been seen as an affordable alternative to expensive homes in London and the South-East. Other regions are now seeing an increase as well. There are more than 30,000 boat owners across England and Wales. It’s said that a growing number of them are using their boats as permanent homes. More boats means more pressure on river and canal networks as Bob Walker has been finding out. First broadcast on You & Yours, 2 February 2017.
