Huey Long: The King Fish

Good Morning Scotland

Available for over a year

BBC Reporter Gillian Sharpe looks at the life of Louisiana governor Huey Long, known as the King Fish, who rose to power in the 20s and set about imposing direct control on almost every aspect of the state machine. Despite being dismissed as a demagogue, his plans for redistribution of wealth and support he gave to the poor, made him massively popular among the poor agricultural communities.
