'There is still abuse going on in the game'

5 Live In Short

Available for over a year

The number of coaches, volunteers and officials who've been investigated by the government's Disclosure and Barring Service has gone up four fold in the last four years. The DBS decides whether someone should be barred from working with children or vulnerable adults if it receives a referral from a sport’s governing body. Steve Walters survived abuse as a young professional footballer and has gone on to help form the Offside Trust which aims to support others in the same situation. He told Adrian Goldberg his concerns about safeguarding in sport and why more needs to be done to share information about potential abusers. This clip is taken from 5 live Investigates on 15 January 2017.
