Dorset museum marks Cubs' centenary

Cub Scouts across the country are marking the 100th anniversary of the formation of the Wolf Cubs. Robert Baden-Powell published ‘Scouting for Boys’ in 1908 and soon afterwards a scheme for younger Wolf Cubs was trialled. During the first world war they supported local communities, learning first aid, cooking and knitting. Then in October 1916 the Wolf Cubs were formally accepted into the Boy Scout Association. The Wolf Cub Handbook was published and on 16 December they were launched with the Wolf Cubs’ Display in London. To mark the centenary, an exhibition has been developed by a Dorset scout leader Raymond Beek in memory of his father. Curator of the Priests House Museum in Wimborne is James Webb.
