Sarkozy Exits After Centre-right Defeat

World Business Report

Available for over a year

French ex-President Nicolas Sarkozy has been knocked out of the centre-right presidential primary. Former prime minister Francois Fillon came first, and he faces Alain Juppe in a run-off vote this Sunday. We have analysis from Sophie Pedder of The Economist magazine. Also in the programme, the BBC's Michael Kaloki tells us why Tanzania has been trying to scupper a free trade deal between east Africa and the European Union. Panasonic is investing $60m in the creation of a robot which folds clothes. The BBC's Zoe Kleinman tells us if it's an idea that is likely to catch on. Plus our regular commentator, Lucy Kellaway of the Financial Times tells us why she has decided to trade journalism for a career in teaching. (Picture: Nicolas Sarkozy. Picture credit: AFP.)
