Jeremy Vine: If Radio 2 had a Mount Rushmore, Sir Jimmy Young would be one of the heads on it

5 Live In Short

Available for over a year

BBC broadcaster Jeremy Vine has paid tribute to the late Sir Jimmy Young, who has died peacefully at home at the age of 95. "If Radio 2 had a Mount Rushmore," he said, Sir Jimmy "would be one of the heads on it, no question about that." Jeremy said Sir Jimmy pioneered "news you can use", by having a medical slot and a slot about the price of fruit and vegetables. Jeremy continued: “Some of the themes and questions were repeated” but “in the end you were getting a show that resonated with the life you were living”. This clip was taken from the Adrian Goldberg programme on Monday 7th November 2016.
