Mallard ducks are so common in Britain it is easy to overlook how beautiful the male is with his iridescent green and blue feathers. These, recorded on Exhibition Park lake, were already pairing up in January because of the mild winter. AUDIO: Chris Watson PHOTOGRAPH: Jacky Longstaff
