Myanmar at "transitional stage"

Newsday

Available for over a year

Myanmar is emerging from decades of military rule. Aung San Suu Kyi's pro-democracy party won last year's elections but it has to share power with the military. One issue which the new government needs to address is the treatment of the minority Rohingya Muslim population, many of whom live in camps in terrible conditions. Newsday's Anu Anand is in Myanmar. She spoke to the Interior Minister, Pe Mint, about his country's form of democracy. (Photo: Pe Mint, Myanmar's Interior Minister. Credit: Huong Ly, BBC)
