Retained Firefighters in Leicestershire

Jim Davis and Jo Hayward

Available for over a year

There are fears that hundreds of 'on-call' firefighters in Leicestershire will be put under immense pressure over the next few years because of a combination of cuts and a recruitment freeze. Retained firefighters make up more than a third of the frontline workforce. They often have other day jobs but attend fires once they receive an emergency callout. Well it comes as the newly appointed Chief Fire Officer for Leicestershire starts in post today (01/06/16). Steve Lunn joined us in the studio, to run us through his plans for retained firefighters.
