Leicestershire's Brick Revival

Jim Davis and Jo Hayward

Available for over a year

The brick business is booming in Britain after years of shortages. That's according to industry experts. A combination of the recession and a big emphasis on building new homes in recent years had meant that developers faced shortages, and depended on imports. But now it seems that's all turned around, and there's no better example than right here in Leicestershire. Ibstock Brick has just announced that its set to create 50 new jobs and is aiming to manufacture an additional one-hundred million bricks a year once its new plant is open. The once crumbling sector has solid foundations once again, as BBC Radio Leicester's Manish Verma reports.
