Grassroots Football in Leicestershire

Jim Davis and Jo Hayward

Available for over a year

Jamie Vardy, a former factory who got his break playing Sunday league football. Going from parks in Sheffield to working his way up the football league, and then onto Leicester City and England, his tale alone is worthy of a Hollywood movie - he even scored the winner in last night's international against Turkey. But how many others could possibly make the journey he did? For the generation of kids in Leicester and Leicestershire he's inspired, what are the opportunities for them to emulate their hero? BBC Radio Leicester's Danielle Hunt has been to see what the state of play is like for grassroots football in Leicester and Leicestershire. But, as she's been finding out, its not all pitch perfect.
