'I'm sure we'll be able to do business with Trump'

World at One

Available for over a year

David Cameron has sought to mend relations with Donald Trump, saying the presumptive Republican nominee deserved respect for winning such a gruelling and extraordinary contest. Last year the prime minister described Mr Trump's proposal to ban muslims from the United States as "divisive, stupid and wrong". But Mr Cameron did not take back his earlier comments. Sir Peter Westmacott was the British Ambassador to the United States until January 2016. He told the World At One that Britain's 'special relationship' would endure, if Mr Trump was elected to the White House. (Picture: British and American flags outside the White House.
