Despite a slight dip in 2015, Jersey's Drug and Alcohol Service says it's getting around 100 referrals a year of people mentioning issues with over-the-counter and prescription medication. A recent report found that the majority of pharmacists surveyed think over-the-counter medication is being abused - with codeine-based painkillers being the main culprits. There are fresh concerns that under-18s may be trying to buy painkillers for recreational use. All medicines mentioned in the report are highly regulated and safe when used correctly.
