The Funeral of Charles Darwin

Witness History

Available for over a year

In April 1882, the great English naturalist Charles Darwin, whose theory of evolution changed forever the way we look at the world and our place in it, was buried at Westminster Abbey. The funeral was the greatest honour that Britain could give. But, as Witness reports, the national commemoration almost didn't take place. (Photo: English naturalist, Charles Darwin, 1809-1882.
