Increasingly long hours and high stress are causing tens of millions of workers to stay home, or even to drop out of work altogether. The cost of this to global business is estimated to be in the trillions says Paul Greenberg, a health economist and the Managing Principal of Analysis Group in Boston. So how can you spot workplace depression, and what can employers to help defeat it. Abhimanyu Chirimar from Instawell, a global call service where trained counsellors are on hand to provide support anonymously to those suffering depression and anxiety. Matthew Shaw is a BBC employee who suffered from depression and is now researching the subject in a number of industries.
