Rape victim felt 'empowered' after facing attackers

The Dotty McLeod Breakfast Show

Available for over a year

A teenager carried across Parker's Piece in Cambridge and raped and sexually assaulted by two men in a flat has said she felt "empowered" after facing her jailed attackers. Honey-Mae Lyons, 19, from Bourn, has waived her right to anonymity to encourage other rape victims to get in touch with police. She told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire she read a victim impact statement to the men, including Muhammed Ekici (pictured) who admitted rape, after they were jailed at Norwich Crown Court, and neither of them could look her in the eye.
