'I lost 44 pints of blood in caesarean birth'

Today

Available for over a year

Natasha Pollock lost 44 pints during an emergency caesarean section, due to a rare condition in which her placenta grew through her uterine wall. Doctors only discovered the condition when Mrs Pollock went into surgery, where she received one of the UK’s largest blood transfusions. "I had the most horrifying-looking husband," Mrs Pollock said, describing when she awoke from surgery. "My husband said 'no the baby is fine, you, however, gave us a night to remember'."
