'We didn’t know our son was addicted until he killed himself'

Available for over a year

The father of 27-year old Ryan Myers, who took his own life after getting into debt because of his gambling addiction, has called for fixed-odds betting terminals to be banned "completely". Speaking on the Today programme, John Myers said they had no knowledge of his son's addiction prior to his death. "We didn’t even know Ryan was addicted. We only found after he had killed himself. We couldn't understand why he had done it. We couldn't understand why because he was a happy-go-lucky lad," Mr Myers said.
