The inner ear clue to deafness

Research into deafness and its genetic causes. By studying hair cells in the inner ear scientists believe they may be able to locate the genes that cause hearing loss. Also in the programme the human urge to make order out of chaos and the many uses of self-assembling molecules, particularly in medicine. And a new tool in genetic research which could avoid long-term damage to laboratory animals.
