Trump v the Republicans: PJ O’Rourke on the Campaign Trail

Assignment

Available for over a year

There’s an American saying - “Anyone can become president” - and in the 2016 election they have been trying to prove it. The New Hampshire primary is the first proper vote of the American presidential election. Finally, after all the debates, polls and bluster, voters get to choose their preferred candidate for president. The choice was supposed to be between names from the past, Bush and Clinton. Instead, the race for White House has been upended by outsiders. Conservative satirical journalist, PJ O’Rourke is a long time watcher of the Republican Party and a veteran of covering elections. He is also a long term resident of New Hampshire, a state so small that you do not have to go looking for the candidates - they’ll find you. So in the last week of the New Hampshire primary PJ goes on the campaign trail to discover whether Donald Trump really has a chance of becoming the next President of the United States.
