Sir Robin Knox-Johnston criticises US sailors' rescue cry

PM

Available for over a year

Two amateur sailors attempting to sail from Norway to the US have had to call on rescue services for the ninth time in seven months. Bob Weise and Steve Shapiro, both 71, insist they are experienced enough to make the trip. Veteran sailor Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, who became the first man to perform a single-handed non-stop circumnavigation of the globe in 1969, advises the pair to "get some lessons and experience" before going to the sea.
