Much of Russian airtime was spent "brushing off and criticising" the Litvinenko inquiry, said Vitaliy Shevchenko, of the BBC's Monitoring Service. The murder of ex-Russian spy Alexander Litvinenko in 2006 in the UK was "probably" approved by President Vladimir Putin, the inquiry found. However, in Russian media, "almost no room was left for any suggestions that there may be any substance at all to these allegations", said Mr Shevchenko.
