The death has been announced of Lord Weidenfeld, one of Britain's most influential publishers. He founded publishing company Weidenfeld & Nicolson with Nigel Nicolson in 1949, after working for the BBC, and remained its chairman. Lord Weidenfeld emigrated to London after fleeing the Nazis in Austria and later became a British citizen. The World at One reprised his appearance in 1990 on Desert Island Discs, speaking to Sue Lawley
