The former President of the Maldives Mohamed Nasheed has been allowed out of jail to travel abroad for medical treatment. The surgery is available there - but he has been given leave to go to Britain instead. He has always claimed he is innocent of the anti-terror charges he faced - and the United Nations said his trial was unfair.
