With 'dry January' in full swing, there was a time in the United States when the whole country was put on a dry regimen. Between 1920 and 1933 prohibition banned the sale and production of alcohol, leading to the emergence of music specific to the period. "There's nothing more to inspire an artist any more than restriction and pain", says vocalist Doug Bowles.
