Primary school allocations 'tough'

Jonathan Lewis, from Northamptonshire County Council,says they cannot "always meet every aspiration" for a school place as demand grows. The county council has likened the demand for school places in parts of Northamptonshire to that in some districts of London. The pressure is biggest in Northampton town centre schools where over the past 10 years the number of children starting school has risen by almost 40% and nearly 900 children requiring a school place have moved into the county in the past three months alone. However, Mr Lewis said the council is "ahead of the curve" and will have places for those that need them.
